PHOENIX FUELS QUICK FACTS -
British-model bio-fuel: a world apart from mass production
- Nottinghamshire-based Phoenix Fuels is run by a group of fresh vegetable, cereal and oilseed producers and technical engineers who are producing and crushing oilseed rape to produce food and environmentally friendly Agri-fuels.
- Their fuels are used to run both the in-house road transportation fleet and generate electricity to power the vegetable pack house.
- Their high quality rapeseed oil is available as an Agri-fuel, suitable for everyday use on the road in adapted cars and commercial vehicles.
- Environmentally-friendly “British Made” Agri-fuels are being developed as a potential alternative fuel source as fossil fuels to continue to deplete
- The Phoenix Fuels launch coincides with the NFU's confirmation in mid April that we can draw a clear distinction between bio-fuels produced to the "The British Model" and bio-fuels produced across the globe, which are endangering precious environments.
- A study at the Hochschule Offenburg academic institution in 2007 showed that particle emissions from Rapeseed Oil were approximately 50 per cent less than with diesel
- British-grown and processed bio-fuels achieve savings of up to 64% in greenhouse gas emissions compared with petrol or diesel
- Phoenix Fuels’ Agri-fuels are made from Rapeseed oil, as opposed to the potentially environmentally damaging Palm and Soya oils currently harvested by other companies for mass-production bio-fuels
- The fuels are developed by leading UK farmers, on British farming land within a 30 mile radius of the production site.
- Phoenix Fuels’ oilseed rape growers have adopted a wide range of environmentally beneficial conservation schemes.
- All crops grown are fully traceable to individual fields using the latest technology.
- Phoenix Fuels’ are helping to develop their Agri-fuels in partnership with the world’s leading engine conversion technology company Elsbett.
- Phoenix Fuels’ have developed a cyclical model for environmental sustainability that can be adapted for other businesses.
