PHOENIX FUELS

The Phoenix Group began when a group of leading Nottinghamshire farmers realised that they could use crops to provide a sustainable green energy source for their food production businesses. They knew that for the model to work it would need to be planned to the very last detail to ensure that all of the rapeseed crop would generate an integrated supply of truly sustainable energy.

The result is a unique and completely traceable cyclical model, which has taken over two years of planning, research and investment to develop into the process they use today. This British Model of biofuel production is entirely distinct from the global biofuel production that’s causing damage to the environment and they have paid careful attention to the recommendations included in the government’s Gallagher Review.

In addition to our long-term green food, fuel and energy commitments and our working practice of the Phoenix cyclical model of sustainability, the Phoenix Group follows an Environmental Management Programme, which includes:

  • Ensuring a duty of care with regard to the disposal of waste
  • Using recycling or recovery opportunities and identifying waste streams
  • Encouraging the use of products or services which have the least environmental impact.
  • Following targets and objectives with regard to environmental management and actively record and monitor performance standards.
  • A commitment to ensure that staff are aware of environmental concerns and that activities are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Following the protocol outlined by our integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Permit

Our full environmental policy is reviewed on an annual basis, during which we incorporate new operational changes and new legislation or guidelines.
